The last frame actually confuses me. I assume it’s Sigsworth who’s attacking, but his stance and posture are so bad that it doesn’t look like he is (straighten your back!), yet Kieran is in such a stance that makes it look like he’s attacking. Furthermore, the lines indicate that Sigsworth had smoothly swung the sword from his lower right to upper left which seems like an odd move to make. Also, if the swords had actually clashed like that, since their directions at the point of contact seem to be almost perpendicular to each other, the swords shouldn’t have been able to continue that smoothly in their respective directions.
Can someone tell me if I’m just looking at it wrong, or if the frame is just meant to look like that?
I’m sorry it’s confusing. I’m certainly not the best at action, and I do a lot of research, but I wouldn’t know if my resources are themselves accurate, as I lack specialist knowledge.
The problem is probably the smooth action lines. What I was going for was deflection: there is contact, but not much. Sigsworth swings his sword upwards, and Kieran intercepts it from the right, but the force of the contact means that instead of locking, the swords just continue their trajectory off the original course. Any clearer?
Hm, I think I get what you mean. It’s guess it is because of the smooth action lines that make it hard to make out. Anyhoo, thanks for clarifying that.
Oh I’m loving the movement! Such dramatic fighting!
Look at those swards swing!
That, I can agree with XD
